As the daughter of Lord Shiva, who is the daughter of the mountain king Himalayas, who makes the earth happy, who keeps the world happy, who resides on the peak of Girishresth Vindhyachal, who is greeted by the Nandigans, who keeps Lord Vishnu happy and who is greeted by Indra. O Jai O Mahishasurmardini, we bow down to the one who is famous, has a huge family and bestows wealth.
Symbolizing the victory of good over evil, Dussehra is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Ashvina, the seventh month of the Hindu calendar, with the appearance of the full moon, an event called the “bright fortnight”.

Dussehra coincides with the culmination of the nine-day Navratri festival and with the tenth day of the Durga Puja festival.
